FORMER AMAKHOSI STAR FINDS NEW HOME
No doubt news of Khama Billiat’s move seemingly downplayed all the rumours that he could make a grand return to South Africa.
He joined Scottland FC as a free agent after leaving Yadah FC — ‘The Miracle Boys’ after just one season. Khama Billiat won big with Yadah FC during his first full season in Zimbabwe.
To cap the 2024 season, Khama Billiat netted 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 26 appearances for the ‘Miracle Boys.’
Undoubtedly, his performance was enough to earn him two awards at the Castle Soccer Stars Awards held by the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League.
Khama Billiat was named the Fans Choice Award winner at the Castle Soccer Stars ceremony. He was also named the second runner-up in Soccer Star Of The Year.
Against his big wins, a possible return to South Africa was reported.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star even fueled the reports when he shared a cryptic response after being asked about his future and possible return to South Africa.
At the time, Khama Billiat said, “I can’t really say much about the future, but all I can say is that something big will come. We are working on something.
A few weeks after the awards, his move to Scottland FC was announced, but how big is the move?
KHAMA BILLIAT BREAKS SILENCE ON HIS NEW DEAL
The rumour mill still maintains that Khama Billiat is the highest-paid star in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. However, his move saw his alleged signing-on fee making rounds online.
Reports have it that Khama Billiat received $45 000, which amounts to around R844 000, as a signing-on fee.
Against the news, Khama Billiat downplayed the reports and declared them false. The former Kaizer Chiefs star also stated that his contract was private and confidential.
However, despite the confidential contract, Khama Billiat made it known that his deal was ‘nowhere near the reported fee.’
Speaking to The Chronicle, Khama Billiat said, “I am not at liberty to divulge the financial terms of my contract with Scottland, but I need to clarify that the US$45 000 figure circulating on social media is baseless.
“My deal is nowhere near that. Ordinarily, I would have ignored the reports, but it creates problems.
“It puts my life in danger because people will be made to believe that I have such amounts of money, and they (criminals) can target me,” the former Kaizer Chiefs star added.
