uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) National Organiser Floyd Shivambu is standing behind the comments he made about Julius Malema and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

Speaking to Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh, the former deputy president explained how he left the party for MK. When asked if he and Malema were still friends, Floyd said the two were never close, and were only connected by politics.

“Sometimes this so-called brotherhood is not brotherhood, it borders on gangsterism relationships. If one person is wrong, you can’t call each other to order. You defend each other even if one is doing wrong things,” he said.

Floyd and Malema are no longer friends

A few hours after the interview went viral, Shivambu made a tweet on X(Twitter), saying everything he told Mpofu-Walsh was correct.

“Everything I said in this interview is 100% correct. I am and truthful student of Amilcar Cabral who says Hide nothing from the masses of our people. Tell no lies. Expose lies whenever they are told. Mask no difficulties, mistakes, failures. Claim no easy victories,” he said.

In the interview, Floyd revealed that Malema was unaware that he was planning his exit.

“Some of the comrades were saying they were shocked I went to MKP. The majority of leaders in the EFF knew I am going to join MKP,” he said.

“Even the officials, some, obviously came to beg me, asking that I shouldn’t tell the president, he did not know and I did not see the need to talk to him about it. They asked me not to tell him that we knew about your decision.”

Malema is yet to respond to Floyd Shivambu’s comments.
