Pretoria-born billionaire Elon Musk has called for South Africa to be “sanctioned” over what he claims are “racist laws”.
The X founder has continued to share his controversial opinions about his birth country, days after 49 Afrikaner “refugees” arrived in the US, on claims that they are victims of “racial discrimination”.
Elon – who has been accused of spreading “misinformation” – has repeatedly condemned SA for promoting “white genocide”. This comes months after he claimed that his internet satellite service, Starlink, was denied a licence to operate in the country over its failure to comply with BEE legislation.
ELON MUSK: ‘SANCTION SOUTH AFRICA!’
In one of his latest X posts, Elon Musk shared: “Repeal the 100+ racist laws that South Africa has passed that discriminate against anyone who is not black!
“If not, South Africa should be sanctioned”.
Elon brazenly added: “This is just Apartheid version 2!”
In another post, Elon Musk shared a screenshot of a “friend in South Africa” who criticised the country’s crime rate, corruption, and inequality among the working class.
MIXED REACTIONS FROM SOUTH AFRICANS
While many have conceded that Elon Musk’s post about crime and corruption in South Africa contains “elements of truth,” others have accused him of purposely painting a “harmful” image of the country.
@Jon_Metavest: “Why don’t you come visit yourself instead of bad-mouthing our beautiful country? Stop spreading rumours and rather use your billions to help if you actually believe any of this!”
@Maso_90: “Don’t you get tired of spreading lies, Elon Musk? We’re not a perfect country, but also not this bad.“
@AnnieMoses01: “This message isn’t just harmful, it’s wildly irresponsible. South Africa has real challenges, yes. But painting an entire population with this kind of racist brush does nothing to help. We need solutions, not stereotypes”
