  • Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has quit parliament after falling out with EFF leader Julius Malema.
  • Several other EFF leaders have recently left the party to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, including Floyd Shivambu.

Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has resigned from Parliament. Ndlozi has served in the National Assembly since 2014.

Once close friends with party leader Julius Malema, Ndlozi reportedly fell out of favour after he failed to inform Malema about Floyd Shivambu’s plans to join the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party.

As a result, he was barred from attending last month’s Third National People’s Assembly, where the party elected its new leaders. He also lost his position in the party’s central command team, becoming just an ordinary member.

The party announced on Thursday that another member, Yazini Tetyana, has also resigned from Parliament.

“Secretary General Marshall Dlamini received the requests to be released from the deployment of the two top leaders within days of each other. Tetyana served in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature and subsequently in Parliament.

“They have both been exemplary in their deployment and acted as commendable public representatives.”

Their resignations follow those of many other top EFF leaders who have left since the March elections.

Former deputy president Floyd Shivambu, Busisiwe Mkhwebane and Dali Mpofu are among those who have left to join former president Jacob Zuma’s MK party.
