Kaizer Chiefs will no doubt boost their squad during the next transfer window, given that the Soweto giants already qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Amakhosi did so by beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup semi-final on Sunday evening. The winner of the Nedbank Cup final qualifies for the CAF CC and with Orlando Pirates having secured a CAF CL spot, the runner-up of the Nedbank Cup automatically enters the Confed Cup as a result.
Kaizer Chiefs eyeing top players in the transfer window
Should Nasreddine Nabi help Chiefs win their first trophy in 10 years, the Soweto giants might be an attractive club once again. The club has been linked with several top players over the last year or so. One player the club are keen to sign is Congolese striker Fiston Mayele.
Last week, Soccer Laduma reported that Pyramids were looking to sell the striker before his contract ends. Kaizer Chiefs had reportedly offered the Egyptian giants R14 million, but at the time, the club was not too keen to sell.
Kaizer Chiefs likely to splash money in the next transfer window
“Chiefs have a great chance of signing Mayele this time around. It is believed that with his contract remaining for almost a year, they want to make some cash before he becomes a free agent. It’s apparently in the range between R12 million to R15 million and you know Chiefs’ last offer was around R14 million, so it means they can now afford to sign him,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Another player Kaizer Chiefs can sign in the next transfer period is Fawaaz Basadien. The Stellenbosch FC star is arguably the most wanted player in the PSL currently. Amakhosi have already made a bid for the defender, but it was deemed very low.
Amakhosi could also part ways with several players at the end of the season, including Njabulo Blom and Ranga Chivaviro.
Will Nabi play a key role in Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer targets next season
Nabi has won fans’ hearts, and it looks like the management is backing him. Whether he wins the Nedbank Cup or not, the Tunisian is set to stay for another season.
