In a series of social media posts, Makhanya revealed that the working conditions on ‘Scandal!’ were so stressful that they almost led her to commit suicide.
According to her, the production environment was far from supportive, contrary to the show’s statement that they were ‘unaware’ of any toxicity. The production claimed her character was written off because it had run its course, but Makhanya tells a different story.
During a revealing interview on the Access Genie podcast on YouTube, Makhanya shared more details about her exit. She alleges that she was fired shortly after reporting her director and floor manager for being drunk on set.
“I was written off a week and a half after I had reported them,” she said. She also mentioned that the news was delivered in a manner that made it seem like she was the one with the issues, but she remained calm and composed.
Following her departure, Makhanya faced significant challenges. She claimed she was ‘redlisted,’ making it difficult to find new work. “I was redlisted for a while. That basically means you do not work,” she explained.
