MAKING HEADLINES
This is not the first time Dr Malinga has hogged headlines with his rumoured purchases in recent years. In 2022, he received backlash after flaunting an R5 million Red McLaren against his woes.
In September 2022, Dr Malinga claimed on a Podcast and Chill episode that the South African Revenue Services (SARS) had slapped him with an R2 million bill.
As such, the hitmaker had much of his assets – including his car and furniture – auctioned to pay towards the penalty.
Amid his woes, he flaunted a sleek McLaren after receiving donations to foot his R2 million Sars debt.
But following the backlash, the artist—whose real name is Goodwill Malinga—has set the record straight about assumptions that he used cash donations to purchase the car.
Following the furore, Dr Malinga slammed the assumption made by many fans that the luxury car was his.
He told TimesLive: “It’s not my car, it’s just a video. I never wrote that the car is mine. It’s my friend’s car, not my car”.
Dr Malinga added that he was grateful for the public’s generosity, which helped him in a dire situation.
