Al Ahly star Percy Tau is part of the team set to face Orlando Pirates this Saturday afternoon at the Orlando Stadium.
The 30-year-old South African striker has struggled to find his form over the past year, both for his club and country. As a result, he was dropped from the Bafana Bafana squad by coach Hugo Broos.
Saturday presents an opportunity for the ‘Lion of Judah’ to prove his worth and deliver a standout performance of the season. Reports suggest that Tau is looking to leave Al Ahly after three years with the club. As he approaches the final six months of his contract with the Egyptian giants, rumors of his departure have intensified.
Recently, he was linked to a move to Zamalek; however, Zamalek board member Ahmed Suleiman has denied any interest in signing Tau.
“There has never been an offer from Zamalek for Percy Tau,” he said as per Soccer Laduma.
“Currently, no one at the club is thinking about signing players from Al Ahly, just as Al Ahly is not considering signing players from us.”
Percy Tau to play Orlando Pirates this weekend
“No player joins Zamalek without José Gomes being fully convinced. As a board, we cannot impose a player on the coach,” Suleiman added.
With Tau’s move to Zamalek unlikely, the forward might opt to move back to South Africa at the end of the season. Two teams that were reportedly keen to sign Percy Tau are Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
