Carl Niehaus has defended his age gap with his wife, Noluthando Mduli – a black female – who recently turned 30 years old.
The 64-year-old former military veteran leader set tongues wagging when he married his model spouse in 2022. The young woman is his fourth wife.
CARL NIEHAUS’S WIFE TURNS 30
On his X account, Carl Niehaus wished his wife Noluthando a happy 30th birthday.
The ANC-turned-EFF MP tweeted: “My love, and darling wife. Thank you for being in my life. I love you deeply”.
Next month, the couple will celebrate two years of marriage. They have been together since 2020.
In November 2022, Carl Niehaus – who has three failed marriages behind his name – revealed that he had successfully paid lobola for his spouse. The couple met at a Johannesburg mall during the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Carl has no qualms about his marriage, Noluthando – who has a child from a previous relationship – was initially hesitant based on their different races.

She told The Citizen of their relationship: “I grew up in Soweto and had never dated a white person before. However, as I got to know him, I realised that he was not only kind and loving; he was also a true South African who did not identify himself in terms of race”.
She added: “The moment we met, he just blew me away with his caring, kind, and friendly personality. It’s unfortunate that those who dislike him are doing so out of ignorance. If they get to know him, I can assure you, they will immediately view him in a different light.”
AGE AINT NOTHING BUT A NUMBER?
In the comment section of his post, Carl Niehaus was criticised for his large age gap with his spouse.
In fact, there are over 1000 comments from X users accusing him of being a “pervert” and “preying” on the younger woman. Some even labelled him a “sugar daddy.”
Carl remained unfazed by social media commentary. He told Tshisalive: “I think all the comments are silly. This is about love, a caring relationship.
He added: “My wife and I have been together for a long time now. We are happily married and happy in love. The age gap makes absolutely no difference; it has never been a problem.
“There are people who are jealous, and that’s their problem.”
