Muizenberg beachfront upgrades underway

The City of Cape Town’s mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis recently took to X to provide an update on the Muizenberg beachfront upgrades.

According to the recent post on X, the mayor said that traffic would be impacted as their teams are now hard at work upgrading the beachfront area at the popular beach.

“Muizenberg beachfront upgrades underway.” the Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said.

“Our teams are hard at work upgrading the area for the thousands of families from the Cape Flats and southern suburbs, who use this popular beach. Traffic will be impacted as excavations and construction have started.” he also added.

What’s up next on the project?

Next up for the beachfront upgrades is the construction of the first section of the sloped seawall, starting at the St James Walkway.

The new wall is an important step in the upgrade, and, once complete, will protect the beachfront and underground services from any future impacts of climate change, such as coastal erosion, increased wave action due to sea level rise, and more frequent storm surges.

Have you been to Muizenberg beach recently and seen the upgrades in progress?
