Motorists across the Western Cape are being advised to drive with caution as adverse weather conditions disrupt major travel routes, including Chapman’s Peak Drive.

Chapman’s Peak Drive was officially closed on Tuesday morning due to strong northerly winds.

The popular coastal route, renowned for its scenic views, is often closed during periods of high wind to ensure public safety.

No estimated reopening time has been provided, and drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes.

Reduce speed

Weather forecasts for Cape Town predict a 100% chance of rain, and strong gusts reaching up to 65km/h.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 14-16 degrees Celsius.

Authorities are urging all road users to stay alert, reduce speed where necessary, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of poor visibility and high winds.
