At 16, he seemingly has the world at his feet, and several European clubs have been monitoring his situation, with Chelsea making the first move.

CAPE TOWN CITY STAR IN LONDON AHEAD OF CHELSEA FC’S TRIALS

His comand of the game and flair resulted in Chelsea inviting him for assessment at their U18 side. The English Premier League outfit invited the 16-year-old for trials, which will run for about four weeks.

Confirmed reports have it that the star is now in London ahead of his trials with the club. Despite this news, Emile Wotbooi’s photos, seemingly at Chelsea, have since gone viral.

IDiski Times shared one of the circulating photos. The star was seen seemingly posing for pictures at one of the club’s facilities.

The photo has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped online.

Against the now-viral post, others were quick to give him a nod. Others hoped for a positive outcome. He joins a host of promising players who have the opportunity to have trials with European clubs.

In 2023, Orlando Pirates poster boy Relebohile Mofokeng had the opportunity to have trials with Wolves. However, a few months later, despite several clubs monitoring his situation, nothing has materialised.

CAREER

Since graduating from the School of Excellence, he has starred for the national teams under 15.

Emile Witbooi has also represented South Africa’s U15 in the Uefa U16 International Development Tournament.

Apart from his collective achievements, he has several individual accolades, including being the Player of the Tournament in the U19 Bayhill Premier Cup.

He was also part of the star-studded U20 side that won the COSAFA U20.

He has been a menace in the DStv Diski Challenge for the Citizens, and his fine performances have resulted in Chelsea inviting him for a one-month assessment at their U18 side.

Surprisingly, Emile Witbooi is the son of Bradley Ralani, who plays for the first division side Hungry Lions.

His father played for several PSL clubs, including Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Cape Town Spurs. However, he spent the majority of his playing career in Sweden.

Speaking to the media, celebrated gaffer Lebogang Manyama believes Witbooi can have a fruitful career in Europe.
