Kaizer Chiefs are looking to add quality players to their squad but also offload some deadwood this January transfer window.
Chiefs are looking to improve their midfield area and to aid that, some fringe players might have to make way.
Chiefs looking to bolster their midfield
There have been several midfielders already linked with Chiefs for this transfer window. Feisal Salum, Thabo Cele, Sihle Nduli and Luke Le Roux. It then becomes apparent that Nabi is looking to strengthen the middle of the park for his side. Nasreddine Nabi currently has captain Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane and an unfit Njabulo Blom to contend with. He unfortunately lost the services Venezuelan international Edson Castillo to a long-term injury. Another option in George Matlou.
Another midfielder that has become a forgotten man is Mduduzi Mdantsane! The playmaker joined Chiefs from Cape Town City at the start of last season. He failed to make an impact due to injuries and ill-discipline. Since then, he is yet to establish himself under the last two coaches in Cavin Johnson and Nabi.
Looking to offload Mdantsane?
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, City are in talks to bring him back from Chiefs this window!
“There are negotiations on the progress (between Chiefs and City). It’s not a done deal yet but there could be a deal in January whereby Mdu (Mdantsane) goes to Cape Town City. It’s all about game time for the player and as for City it’s about strengthening their squad as they want to fight for a better position in the league mainly in the second round and they feel the experience of Mdantsane can help them,” said the source.
A second source then says its still unclear whether City want Mdantsane back on a loan or a permanent deal.
Return to City?
“Those are the few issues that they are supposed to look at. You know he (Mdantsane) still has a contract until June 2026 so that’s what they also have to look at whether they (City) will just need him for this second half of the season or if they would want to keep him further after this season and that means buying him permanently from Chiefs. They have to finalise those details soon,” said the second source.
Chiefs fans would you like to see Mdantsane leave on loan or permanently? Or should he get another chance under Nabi? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below!
