Mduduzi Shabalala has been Kaizer Chiefs‘ best-performing youngster this season under Nasreddine Nabi.

The 20-year-old midfielder has played seven matches so far this campaign and scored three times while also providing one assist. The talented star has even impressed Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.

Shabalala has grown since making his debut for Amakhosi’s senior team a couple of seasons ago. Last month, he scored a stunning brace to secure a 2-2 draw with Magesi FC.

His former youth coach Sifiso Nxumalo has been impressed with the Kaizer Chiefs youngster this season.

“I think he’s coming up nicely especially this season, one can see that he’s been scoring goals and providing some assists for his teammates,” Nxumalo told FARPost.

“The former coaches at Chiefs were giving him some opportunities to play, now the current coach [Nasreddine Nabi] is doing the same.

Kaizer Chiefs youngster finally showing form

“Nabi has instilled some confidence into Shabalala you can see the way he performs. If he continues to get some game time, we will see the talent of that boy,” he added.

“For now, he should just stay focused, work hard during matches and at training, then the best of him will come.”

Mduduzi Shabalala has been often compared with Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng (20), who has been heavily influential in the club’s success. Mdu on the other hand, has played for a Kaizer Chiefs that has struggled in recent years and the youngster never got an opportunity to shine. Under Nabi, young players such as Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi now have a platform to perform.
