Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 38-player preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
South Africa will play Uganda away and face South Sudan at home a few days later during the November FIFA International break. The squad will be trimmed to 23 players in the coming days.
Broos’ troops need just two more points from their remaining two AFCON qualifiers to secure their place in next year’s tournament.
The 2023 AFCON semi-finalists currently sit second in Group K, having won two and drawn two of their four matches. A 1-1 draw against Congo Brazzaville in their last match delayed their qualification, but they remain on track to reach the finals.
Bafana’s crucial match against group leaders Uganda as they resume their AFCON qualifying campaign on November 15th will be played away from home. The final qualifier is scheduled for November 19th at DHL Stadium in Cape Town, where they will face South Sudan.
