Back to default setting? Kaizer Chiefs fans in disbelief after second league defeat

Kaizer Chiefs fans were left wondering after suffering a 2-1 loss to SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

New man Tashreeq Morris scored the only goal in the 44th minute to hand Amakhosi their second loss of the season. The two teams played last weekend at the same stadium in the Carling Knockout Cup with Chiefs giving Matsatsantsa a proper hiding.

Gavin Hunt‘s men played Amakhosi’s rivals Orlando Pirates midweek and suffered a 2-0 defeat leaving them badly wounded ahead of Saturday’s match. Coming into the match, The Glamour Boys were favourites to win against an inexperienced SuperSport team.

Kaizer Chiefs fans unhappy following Matsatsantsa defeat

Kaizer Chiefs had most of the ball but struggled to break the SuperSport defence which held their lines. A quick transition saw Hunt’s men open the scoring a few minutes from halftime. Morris finished off a brilliant pass from the right side to give SuperSport the lead.

Amakhosi came strong in the second half but failed to find the equaliser. This loss sees Nasreddine Nabi’s team drop to ninth in the Betway Premiership.

Kaizer Chiefs fans took to X (Twitter) to vent their frustration on some of the players.

@KabeloMohlah02 wrote: “We’re struggling at 9th place, while our arch-rivals top the table. Our main issue is converting chances into goals. We had numerous scoring opportunities but failed to hit the target repeatedly. It’s frustrating.”

@PhokaTSV wrote: “Poor tactical approach. Ranga was weak and how he played 90 minutes is odd. Zwane had a poor game. Actually whole team including coaching.

@LindoMyeni wrote: “Imagine scoring 4 goals against the same team and 7 days later you can’t score even one.”

Can Chiefs bounce back?
