Miss Universe runner-up Chidimma Adetshina has bragged about her travels amid her mother, Anabela Rungo’s arrest and release on bail. Is she returning to South Africa again?
The beauty queen and her mother have been at the centre of identity theft and fraud allegations made by the Department of Home Affairs. Rungo – a Mozambican migrant – is accused of unlawfully registering her daughter as a South African via fraudulent documents.
Both of their ID and passport documents have been revoked amid an ongoing investigation.

Her post comes after her mother, Anabela Rungo, was released on R10 000 bail after her arrest over identity theft last month. The Mozambican woman – who is married to Chidimma’s dad, Nigerian man Michael Adetshina, is charged with violating the Immigration Act and Identification Act.
According to her statement, Rungo is the caregiver of Chidimma’s young son, who lives in Cape Town. Since winning the Miss Universe Nigeria and Miss Universe runner-up title, Chidima has remained in Nigeria.
If she is returning to South Africa, it wouldn’t be the first time since she definitely did so after her documents were revoked. In January, the 23-year-old reportedly entered the country to visit her son.
STRICT BAIL CONDITIONS
This week, the Cape Town Magistrates Court granted Chidimma’s mother R10 000 bail.
According to IOL, Anabela Rungo has strict bail conditions set in place, including:
- Being under house arrest and only leaving home to consult with her legal team
- Receiving unaccounted visits from immigration officials
- Prohibited from contacting the embassy or applying for permanent residency
