Ariana Grande captivated attendees at the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards on 3 January 2025.

The event took place at the Palm Springs Convention Center. It marked the beginning of the 2025 awards season.

Grande, aged 31, dazzled on the red carpet in a silver metallic ballgown. The strapless dress featured a voluminous, bubble-shaped skirt.

This resembled her character Glinda’s magical bubble in the film Wicked.

She accessorised with a diamond choker, earrings, and ring, completing the ensemble with white patent leather pumps.

She styled her hair in a sleek bun with side-swept fringe and complemented it with subtle makeup.

During the ceremony, Jennifer Coolidge presented Grande with the Rising Star Award for her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked, according to People.

In her acceptance speech, Grande showcased her humour. “I’ve been performing since I was a child, so I never thought at the age of 31 I would be hearing the words ‘rising star’ again.

So I wanted to start by thanking my two friends: Botox and … .”

The audience responded with laughter.

Ariana Grande expressed gratitude towards Coolidge, calling her a “comedic genius”, according to Page Six

She also thanked Wicked director Jon M. Chu, referring to him as her “fearless leader,” and co-star Cynthia Erivo. She described Erivo as her brilliant sister.”

Grande’s performance as Glinda has garnered critical acclaim. It has earned her nominations for the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.

THE PALM SPRINGS FILM FESTIVAL

The Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards also honoured other notable figures.

Angelina Jolie received the Desert Palm Achievement Award for Best Actress for her role in Maria, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Timothée Chalamet was also presented with the Chairman’s Award for A Complete Unknown.
