Emergency services responded to a two-car collision on Loop Street in the Cape Town CBD on Friday afternoon.

Miraculously, only minor injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

This latest incident comes just weeks after emergency services responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a McLaren on High Level Road in Sea Point.

Upon arrival, paramedics found two injured individuals.

The driver was later identified as Nigerian rapper 3GAR Baby while the other occupant was his unnamed brother.

The vehicle in that incident was McLaren 570S coupe with a value in the region of R3 million.

At the time of publishing, circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

In a tragic accident earlier in the year – as reported by The South African website – the driver of a Ferrari lost control on Buitengracht Street and crashed into pedestrians.

The accident claimed the life of Durban dental surgeon Dr Ncumisa Mdlokolo.

Cement truck lost control

That followed shorty after a cement truck lost control on Kloof Nek Road and crashed into 17 vehicles, as reported by The South African website in late 2024.

The truck, having lost its brakes, sped into oncoming traffic to avoid rear-ending cars in its lane, but after hitting a Kia, it crashed into a line of parked vehicles.

That was shortly followed by a tour bus which drove into the fence of an apartment complex, also on Kloof Nek Road.

According to City of Cape Town Ward 77 Councillor, Francine Higham, the brakes failed on the bus coming from Signal Hill resulting in it hitting two vehicles and then the wall / fence of the property.

In early January, an accident in Camps Bay in Cape Town tragically claimed the life of a delivery driver.

It involved two vehicles and the delivery motorcycle.

That accident came mere days after, as reported by The South African website, a collision between a truck transporting non-potable water and several vehicles at the intersection of Camps Bay Drive and Geneva Drive.

Footage showing the aftermath of the collision subsequently went viral on social media platforms, sparking debate on road safety concerns and the urgent need for extra safety measures in the area.
