Sunday evening was a night for the stars as actors, actresses, directors, and producers all embraced the glitz and glam as they celebrated some of Hollywood’s best at the 97th Academy Awards evening, better known as the Oscars.
Among the several big names who have been nominated was South Africa’s very own media personality and now also co-producer of the short film, The Last Ranger.
After making a good impression by raising awareness around the dangers of Rhino poaching, the film was nominated in the category of Best Action Short Film.
While walking the red carpet, Anele stunned many when she donned a beautiful traditional red Xhosa dress which local designer Asanda Madyibi created.
In an Instagram post, Anele boasted about how many compliments she received during her walk on the red carpet that evening.
She wrote: “The most complimented dress at the Oscars was made by Asanda Madyibi.”
“The Last Ranger is the first Xhosa anything to be nominated for an Oscar, so I thought it fitting to rock a Xhosa aesthetic. Umbhaco is Xhosa traditional wear and as you can see, it’s worldly and most importantly, regal.”
While the dress may have been the bigger focus point, there was another component of her attire that has received just as much attention – the glittering diamond spotted on her left ring finger.
This has resulted in some raised eyebrows on whether the radio presenter was now a married woman.
Commenting on the ring, TshisaLive reports that one user wrote, “Congratulations on the engagement, I did say last December that lobola is coming?”
Another emphasised the shiny rock on her finger, “Ring finger Ma’am.”
Meanwhile, those on X (formerly Twitter) have been more than happy to see her happy, especially after her recent ordeal with an Uber driver in Cape Town.
After the harassment from Uber guy you deserve to be there ause anele all the best 👍 👌🏻
