Mzansi music lovers will soon have the chance to get a first-hand glimpse of what it takes to walk in the shoes of three of the country’s biggest amapiano artists, Boohle, Thee Buhle, and Bontle Smith.

When it comes to South African culture, there are very few things that get locals more excited than listening to their favourite music track.

While music has always been the link to bring various cultures and ethnicities together, the introduction of the amapiano genre has taken things to the next level, with our music now reaching international borders.

With its popularity taking music to new heights, renowned music channel MTV has approached three prominent vocalists to show fans just how much sacrifice it takes to be in the entertainment industry with the introduction of their own reality show called, Inside Life: City Girls Are Up.

In an interview with the news and entertainment publication, Daily Sun, Buhlebevangeli Manyathi, best known by her stage name Boohle, told the publication that she was excited for fans to see how united females were while working in the male-dominated space.

“It’s really imperative that we fight this narrative about a ‘competition’ among ladies. We wanted to come together to make something beautiful, and I feel this show will showcase just that,” Boohle said.

Speaking to Hype Magazine, Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa, said: “At MTV, we are committed to elevating African voices and stories, especially those of young women who are spearheading pop culture.

Inside Life: City Girls Are Up, celebrates the power of women in music, offering a front-row seat to the journeys of three incredible talents who are shaping the future of entertainment in Africa.”

Boohle, adds that she is excited for the fans to get to know each of the ladies a lot better.

The show is set to premiere on the 22nd of February.
