Polokwane City FC veteran midfielder Cole Alexander has given sound advice to in-demand Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi.
Appollis and Matuludi attracted interest from different teams following an impressive breakthrough in the 2023/24 Betway Premiership season.
The duo helped PLK City clinch the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship title to gain promotion to the SA’s top-flight last season.
In their first campaign in the Premiership, Polokwane City finished within the top eight and retained their status in the elite league.
Meanwhile, Appollis and Matuludi were crucial for Rise and Shine after producing performances that earned them call-ups to the Bafana Bafana squad.
During the off-season, Appollis was on the wish list of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and several teams on the African continent.
WHAT DID COLE ALEXANDER SAY ABOUT APPOLLIS AND MATULUDI?
Following Apollis and Matuludi’s failed moves in the past transfer window, Cole Alexander says the two stars must maintain top form to keep the big clubs interested.
“I think the team keeping Appollis and Matuludi shows the desire to want to compete and do good. But it is what it is, as a player, you can’t control what happens externally,” Alexander told FARPost.
“So now what’s important is to focus on being here and have a proper attitude, have a proper desire to do well and perform. Continue to do what you have been doing for you to get the recognition you’ve been getting.
“If you get frustrated and this [failed move] gets into your head, in one year or two years time are we going to talk the same story about you?
He added: “So at the end of the day, if you get frustrated and drop your head and you don’t want to give your best anymore because of external situations, you only damaging yourself and the potential to further your career and invite other offers.
“I mean it takes a good season for people to see you and same thing can be said about having one bad season. So my message to the boys is to be with us. We appreciate that you are with us and it also shows how ambitious our chairman [Johnny Mogaladi] is and it shows that this club want to reach new heights.”
