AfriForum has welcomed the US government’s condemnation of the chant “Kill the Boer, which has been the centre of attention in recent weeks.
Thus week, the US Embassy in Pretoria stated: “Let’s be clear: ‘Kill the Boer’ is a chant that incites violence against ethnic minorities. The EFF is propagating racial hate with this chant. It must stop,” the Embassy said as per IOL.
The Afrikaner lobby group touched on the new US bill, which could target ANC leaders.
AfriForum continue to fight “Kill the Boer” chant
“The unspoken approval of slogans such as ‘Kill the Boer’ and the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act (the Bela Act), which targets Afrikaans schools and threatens the survival of Afrikaans cultural communities, are serious human rights violations. In addition, the report by the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture also exposed widespread corruption by ANC leaders,” said AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel.
AfriForum heads to UN over Kill the Boer chant
The lobby group said it was deeply concerned about the ANC leaders’ ties with Hamas and Iran.
“The ANC leaders caused this crisis. They now have a responsibility to take South Africa and its people out of the crossfire through a clear change of direction in the country’s policies and actions. This change must include a comprehensive review of South Africa’s foreign policy as well as a new commitment to the protection of property rights and human rights – including those of minority communities,” Kriel said.
Last month, AfriForum vowed to approach the United Nations (UN) in their latest bid to have the controversial struggle song “Kill The Boer” declared hate speech. This comes after the Constitutional Court dismissed AfriForum‘s attempt to appeal the Supreme Court of Appeal’s ruling, which stated that the chant “Kill the Boer” is not considered hate speech.
Will AfriForum ever win the battle to have the chant banned?
