The tickets for the much anticipated Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have gone on sale.

Chiefs and Sundowns are scheduled to meet on 2 November at FNB Stadium, as initially revealed by The South African.

Kick-off is at 18:00.

KAIZER CHIEFS VS SUNDOWNS: TICKETS GO ON SALE

Now, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the availability of match tickets to the public, and they are selling at R50 each.

The South African website has it on good authority that 87 000 tickets have been made available for this encounter.

Usually, only the Soweto derby – Chiefs and Pirates – sells around 87 000 tickets, and this is rare for a match involving Sundowns.

For instance, when Chiefs and Sundowns met in the league a few weeks ago, only 75 000 tickets were made available.

And that encounter went on to become a sold out affair.

Now, with over a week to go before the actual match, expectations are this will also be a sold out affair.

Both sets of fans – Chiefs and Sundowns – have been at each other’s cases since the previous meeting.

And that relates to the controversy around Lucas Ribeiro Costa’s offside which was overlooked.

Furthermore, Inacio Miguel’s late goal was ruled out after the referee had picked up that he pushed Mosa Lebusa before scoring.

Now, Chiefs’ performance on the day gave their fans hope that they can actually beat Sundowns at any given day.

Last season, Sundowns hammered Chiefs 5-1 at the Calabash to clinch their seventh league title in a row.

The win was historic in the sense that Chiefs had never lost by that margin to any opponent in the PSL history.
