City Power Johannesburg has announced a planned power outage that will affect 19 suburbs. The outages will occur on various days, with specific hours designated for each area.
REASON FOR POWER OUTAGE
City Power Johannesburg stated that the interruption is necessary for the essential maintenance of its electricity network.
“As the supply may be restored at any time, customers are urged to always treat their electricity supply points as live,” the City advised.
AFFECTED AREAS
These are the areas that will be affected by the power outage:
SUNDAY, 12 JANUARY 2025. The power interruption will occur at William Nicol SWS from 8:00 to 16:00 in these areas:
- FLORIDA PARK
- FLORIDA HILLS
- FLORA CLIFF
MONDAY, 13 JANUARY 2025. The power interruption will occur at Wilgeheuwel Switching Station from 8:00 to 16:00 in these areas:
- HONEYDEW RIDGE
- HONEY DEW MANOR
- WILGEHEUWEL
TUESDAY, 14 JANUARY 2025. The power interruption will occur at Alexandra Substation from 8:00 to 16:00 in the following area:
- FAR EAST BANK EXT. 7 AND 8
WEDNESDAY, 15 JANUARY 2025. The power interruption will occur at Alexandra Substation from 8:00 to 16:00 in the following areas:
- TSUTSUMANI
- LAST GATE
- BOHLABELO
- EXT 10
THURSDAY, 16 JANUARY 2025. The power interruption will occur at Central A Substation from 8:00 to 16:00 in the following areas:
- MARSHALLTOWN
- PART OF MARSHALL STREET
- PART OF MAIN STREET
- ELOFF STREET AND SURROUNDING STREETS
TUESDAY, 21 JANUARY 2025. The interruption will occur at Staugh Vorster Switching Substation from 9:00 to 17:00 in the following areas:
- PHARMACEUTICAL ON 16th ROAD
TUESDAY, 28 JANUARY 2025. The interruption will occur at Bordeaux Substation from 9:00 to 17:00 in the following areas:
City Power Johannesburg apologises for any inconvenience caused by these interruptions.
ELECTRICITY THEFT IN LINBRO PARK
Eskom has reported that the electricity supply to Linbro Park has been disrupted due to cable theft.
“Our technicians are on-site working on restoring supply. The estimated time of restoration is currently not available,” Eskom stated.
They also mentioned that technicians are working to restore power to Jakkalasdans, Little Eden and Tweedespruit, with no determined time for restoration at this point.
Eskom encourages community members to report any illegal electricity activities such as theft, vandalism, meter bypassing and illegal connections, to the Eskom Crime Line at 0800 112 722 or via WhatsApp at 081 333 3323.
