35 Johannesburg areas to be affected by a power outage

City Power Johannesburg has scheduled a planned power outage that will affect 35 areas.

The power outage will occur on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at Nirvana, Nancefield Substations and Alexandra Substations.

The power utility explained that the power outage is necessary to do maintenance work on its electricity network for better service provision to its customers.

Here’s a list of the areas that will be affected by the power outage at Nirvana and Nancefield Substations on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, from 8:00 to 14:00 (6 hours):

THREE WAYS TO KEEP WARM DURING A POWER OUTAGE

When a power outage strikes, staying warm can be quite a challenge. Here are three ways to keep warm during a power outage.

Make sure that you wrap yourself in two or more blankets. According to thesurvivalmom, place your blankets around your waist or under your arms. Also, be mindful of overheating to avoid excessive sweating.
Stay warm by wearing gloves and cosy/fluffly shoes, or you can use your pockets to keep your hands warm if you don’t have gloves.
