The game started with a scare for South Africa as Peter Shalulile of Namibia almost scored in a one-on-one battle with Grant Kekana. However, Shalulile’s shot went wide, sparing South Africa from conceding an early goal.
South Africa took the lead in the 14th minute through Percy Tau, who converted a penalty after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted a handball by Riaan Hanamub in the box. Just moments later, Themba Zwane doubled the lead for Bafana Bafana with a well-placed curler at the near post, assisted by Thapelo Morena.
Right before the halftime whistle, Themba Zwane completed his brace and extended South Africa’s lead to 3-0 with another impressive curling shot from the opposite side of the box.
