Zandile Khumalo underwent intense questioning on her third day of testimony in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
She is appearing as a State witness in the case against five men accused of the murder of Senzo Meyiwa nine years ago.

The accused individuals, namely Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli, face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of firearms without a license, and possession of ammunition.
Advocate Sipho Ramosepele, representing Sibiya and Ntanzi, was the first defense counsel to cross-examine Zandile regarding her previous testimony in court.
This testimony recounted the events of the fateful day when Senzo Meyiwa, the renowned Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star, was killed.
Ramosepele questioned Zandile about whether she screamed during the confrontation with the alleged intruders.
In her initial statement, Zandile mentioned that the occupants of the house attempted to fight off the robbers, pushing them into the kitchen.
“We all stood up and pushed both of them to the kitchen. While fighting with them in the kitchen, I saw Tumelo’s crutch.I took it and tried to hit the tall one, but I couldn’t reach … Tumelo then took it and started hitting him,” she said.
During the cross-examination, Zandile couldn’t recall who initiated the push against the first intruder, but she affirmed that they all stood up to confront the intruders.
“I can’t remember who stood up first, but I remember that we stood up,” she said.
Ramosepele also inquired about whether any of the occupants tried to alert the neighbors by screaming.
Zandile replied that there was noise in the house, but she wasn’t sure if the neighbors heard it.

The defense counsel further questioned Zandile about her level of intoxication during the robbery.
Zandile maintained that she was not drunk and clarified that she had only consumed three cans of cider, as she had previously informed the prosecutor, advocate George Baloyi, during her evidence-in-chief.
